Good Wishes

http://www.andrewgarvey.com/wizard/characters/Images/Glinda%20the%20Good%20Witch%20of%20the%20North%201.jpgThe second sublime abiding is discussed on the previous page and on Page One Hundred and Seven, Compassion.  To do so, select a person who is suffering, reflect on it up to the fourth jhana, develop lovingkindness toward that person and then add compassion by way of saying 'may this good person be released from suffering.'

One can also develop compassion toward those beings that are not suffering by reflecting on the thought that they will at some point.

Following that, a discussion on developing appreciative joy, in much the same way as above, toward a person who is happy and reflect 'may this good person not be separated from the prosperity they have attained.'
