Not Cake

On Page Eighty, Sayadaw discusses the Base of Boundless Space, to first reflect on the disadvantages of materiality.  Take my body. . . please.

All you gotta do, is you gotta reflect on the disadvantages of materiality and reflect on the more peaceful nature of the immaterial jhanas. Then expand the nimita to boundlessness.  Then develop the five masteries, namely;

Mastery in attaining is the ability to enter upon jhana quickly, mastery in resolving the ability to remain in the jhana for exactly the pre-determined length of time, mastery in emerging the ability to emerge from jhana quickly without difficulty, and mastery in reviewing the ability to review the jhana and its factors with retrospective knowledge immediately after adverting to them.
